Why We Put Turmeric and Black Pepper in Every Batch
The golden spice
Turmeric is a golden spice that has been used for centuries. Its main active compound is curcumin, a natural plant chemical that gives turmeric its bright yellow colour. Curcumin is a natural antioxidant that's known for supporting healthy joints and overall wellbeing.
Why black pepper matters
The catch is that turmeric is only about 2–5% curcumin by weight, and the body struggles to absorb it on its own. That's where black pepper comes in. It contains piperine, which helps the body take in far more of the curcumin.
Better together
That's why we pair them. Together they make every Bakers Bite a tasty treat with a little extra goodness baked in.
Both are used in small, dog-safe amounts and baked into our wholesome, Aussie-made recipe.
