Privacy policy

Bakers Bites ("we", "us") of South Nowra NSW 2541 is committed to handling your personal information in line with the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and the Australian Privacy Principles. This policy explains what we collect, why, and your choices.

What we collect

When you place an order, create an account, join our loyalty program, or contact us, we collect: your name, email address, phone number, delivery address, your order history and loyalty points balance, and any messages you send us. For wholesale and stockist customers we may also record business details such as your trading name, contact person and delivery site requirements.

Payment details: card payments are processed by our payment provider — full card numbers never touch our servers and we don't store them. For pay-on-pickup/delivery orders we record only the payment method and whether payment has been received.

Account passwords are stored only as secure one-way hashes — we can't see them.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies that make the site work: one keeps you logged in and remembers your shopping cart during your visit. We don't use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies. You can block cookies in your browser, but the cart and account features won't work without them.

How we use your information

We use your information to process and deliver your orders, run your loyalty account, send service messages about your orders (confirmations, dispatch notices), respond to your enquiries, keep proper business and tax records, and improve our products and service. If something ever went wrong with a production batch, we would also use order records to contact affected customers directly — part of our food-safety commitment to your dog.

Marketing — only if you opt in

We only send marketing emails or SMS if you've opted in, and every marketing email includes a working unsubscribe link. For SMS, reply STOP at any time. Opting out is immediate and doesn't affect service messages about orders you've placed. We comply with the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). We never sell or rent your details to anyone.

Who we share information with

Only the service providers who help us run the business, and only what they need to do their job: delivery and freight carriers (name, address, phone for your delivery), our email and SMS delivery providers (your address or number, to send you the messages described above), our payment processor (to take payment), and our website hosting provider (where the site's database lives). We may also disclose information where the law requires it. We don't sell, rent or trade personal information — full stop.

Overseas disclosure

Our business and website hosting are Australian. Some service providers (for example email delivery) may process or store data on servers outside Australia; where that's the case we choose reputable providers with appropriate privacy and security commitments.

Security

The site runs over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection, passwords are hashed, and access to customer records is limited to our small team, each with their own login. No internet system is perfectly secure, but we take reasonable steps to protect your information from misuse, loss and unauthorised access.

How long we keep it

We keep order and transaction records for as long as Australian tax and business record-keeping laws require (generally at least five years), and account information for as long as your account is active. If you close your account we'll deactivate it and retain only what those legal obligations require.

Access, correction and complaints

You can ask us at any time what personal information we hold about you, and ask us to correct it — send us a message through our contact page and we'll respond within a reasonable time, usually a few days. If you have a privacy complaint, contact us first and we'll do our best to resolve it. If you're not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au).

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we'll post the updated version here with a new date. Significant changes affecting how we use your information will be flagged to account holders.
